According to two people privy to the matter, Christian Catalini is purportedly on leave from MIT and now currently working at Facebook.

The popular crypto economist is assisting with Facebook’s cryptocurrency project, the sources stated. The social media giant is purportedly creating a stablecoin that will allow its billions of customers to send and receive money to each other and probably pay for online shopping.

Catalini has been one of the well-known researchers focused on token economics. Together with University of Toronto professor Joshua Gans, they wrote a 2018 report on the value of crypto tokens.

One of the Catalini’s most recent papers is about the detach between consumers’ given want in privacy protection and their actual willingness to give it up.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, stated at the company’s F8 developer conference last week, “I believe the future is private.”

Catalini got his Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Toronto in 2013.
